Band History

August 2000 - Chris Wallbank forms a band, after the demise of Anonymous. Members include himself singing and playing guitar, Robbie Atkinson on bass, Tim Pickering in the old guitar, David Dickinson on Keyboards and Mr Robert 'Ginger lad' Upton on drums.

September 2000- The lads play their first gig but ginger lad can't play so Matty Pinfield plays. Its at the Little Civic too. A battle of the bands no doubt!

November 2000 - After the penning of a number of now legendery Ripchord tunes, the debut cd is recorded at old Pinner's house, would you believe it! It includes Heard It All Before, Mind Stealers and Photograph. It is called When We Were Kings. David Dickinson does not appear on these tracks and it must be noted he is no longer in the band at this point. However, he remains a die hard fan of The 'Chord.

December 2000 - December 2001 - Ripchord play a number of gigs all over the place including about twenty at the Little Civic, after befriending Gary Jones, the manager. They also play a number of gigs at the Varsity, their school, a church, a shed, parties and other funfilled locations. They also recorded some songs at the school studios which were then remixed by Greggy Philips and a boy with a girls name that everyone forgot. They also build up a large following in the local area of Wolverhampton.

January 2002 - Robbie Atkinson and Tim Pickering are dropped from the line up and replaced with Phil on guitar, James 'Sulli' Sullivan on lead and Barnaby Ball on bass, who is named after his mother's favourite goat. With this new amazing line up they play outstanding gigs at the Marrs Bar, supporting a fun indie band called Moneygunn and at the Hollybush in Penn supporting Copiuos Nothing. What a lark!

Febuary 2002-August 2003 - Gigs are played at the Little Civic, numerous school related gigs and parties and the Varsity. The band also become good friends with the organiser of the 'LLeven' acoustic night at the Halfway House and play there most weeks to rapturous applause. Phil and Sulli record a CD and links are made with The Stands and Shed Seven, both of whom ask for copies of the demos.

September 2003-Present - After Barny Ball goes missing whilst sailing and making boats or such, Dave Copson is recruited as the new bassist. He is a funny chap and wears age 7-8 t shirts as well as cheese grating his favourite pair of trousers.
